‘Early Morning Joggers Setting Off the Alarms’
- Share via
This is in reply to Marcella M. Brezae’s letter (Sept. 6), “Early Morning Joggers Setting Off the Alarms.”
I live many miles from Chatsworth so I am certain I am not the woman to whom she refers. However, I do leave every morning between 4:30 and 4:45 a.m. for my exercise time. I go that early for several reasons, our day starts before that, so I am up, most dogs are still asleep and I still have plenty of time to get ready and go to work. I sit in an office all day and need some form of exercise, I cannot afford to go to a gym, so I take to the public roads.
I do not take my dog with me, although on occasion I have had a dog join me and stay with me for the entire 3 miles. No amount of “stay” or “go home” works, so I give up and let them go along and hope they find their way back home. I have dogs bark at me even without a dog along, some just bark at anything that moves, a shadow in the wind will set them off. I have tried different routes and my current one seems to have the least number of dogs, so I will continue going in that direction.
I usually meet at least one other person out exercising every morning, so I would guess we are really not that unusual. Besides with summer temperatures in the 90s and second-stage smog alerts, it’s got to be healthier!
Before she complains, maybe Marcella should try it, she might feel better.
