There will be 23 fewer intercollegiate sports teams at the nine Los Angeles Community College District schools this school year than there were in 1985-86, according to a schedule adopted this week by the Southern California Conference. The cutback is the result of faculty and staff layoffs in the district, which resulted in the firing of 23 part-time coaches.
