The Region : Street Scene: 19 Charged

The Los Angeles city attorney’s office filed misdemeanor charges against 19 people arrested during last weekend’s Street Scene festival. City attorney’s spokesman Mike Qualls said 14 were charged with assault with a deadly weapon, two with brandishing a weapon, two with battery on a police officer and one for resisting arrest. The case of a suspected gang member who was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon was turned over to the city attorney’s gang unit for prosecution. Fourteen other cases were also under review for further action, Qualls said, adding that those suspects had been released on bail and were ordered to appear between Oct. 10 and 16.
