Now that Augusto Pinochet has banned six newspapers, prohibited the transmission of foreign news agencies, summarily rounded up and jailed political leaders, labor leaders, students, not to mention priests, and imprisoned Chile’s entire citizenry by means of a brutally enforced state of siege, will President Reagan mine Chile’s harbors, enlist CIA operatives to blow up its buses, clinics and cooperative farms, and engage in the wholesale sabotage of its economy--until Pinochet says “uncle?”
