Archeologists have discovered the remains of a lost Inca city close to Macchu Picchu and about twice its size, a Peruvian government spokesman said. The city, named Marampata, was spotted in an aerial survey last week by archeologists Reynaldo Chohfi of UCLA and Octavio Fernandez of Peru’s National Cultural Institute. A spokesman said heavy rains prevented a land expedition from exploring the ruins, about three miles north of Macchu Picchu. He said the site was covered by dense undergrowth but terraces, buildings and a wall about 200 yards long were identified from the air.
