Two Headlines

Two headlines in Sunday’s paper (Sept. 14) say it all, a sad commentary on our values:
“Affluent Home Buyers Demanding More Space.”
“Elderly Facing Ouster as Rent Subsidies End.”
The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, corporations gobble up their competition, farmers lose their farms to foreclosure, banks and savings and loans fold, “smokestack” industries shut down.
Are we better off than in the 1970s?
