Tax Overhaul Legislation
I would like to make a suggestion to the representatives and senators of the United States: As the tax reform bill comes before you, ladies and gentlemen, take a pledge! Promise that, once passed, you will leave it alone.
Not forever perhaps, but at least until the 28% rate has been with us for a few years. This will give everyone, business and the private sector, a chance to plan ahead with confidence that the rules will not change.
Imagine the time saved if taxation were not to be an issue for five years. Imagine, mirabile dictu , business, the people of this country, all free to go about their respective lives with never another thought given to tax, except perhaps, “I pay my share, as does everyone.â€
Come to think of it, isn’t that what tax reform is all about?
