CooperVision will sell its Richards Medical unit.

Eight months after it acquired Richards Medical and another concern in a $350-million deal, CooperVision said it will sell its Richards Medical orthopedics division to Smith & Nephew Associated Cos. of London for about $284 million in cash. CooperVision said the proceeds will be used to reduce the debt that it incurred in the February purchase.
