Nationwide Newspaper for Lawyers Makes Its Debut
A new San Juan Capistrano company has published the charter edition of a 24-page weekly newspaper for lawyers called United States Law News. About 160,000 copies will be distributed free to law firms in major metropolitan areas nationwide, the company reported.
The United States Law News Co. will begin regular weekly publication Oct. 27, according to a prepared statement by H. Reese Butler II, the newspaper’s editor and publisher.
The newspaper will focus on news about the law, the practice of law and the actions of legislative and administrative agencies, and it will be written by lawyers, the company said. Each week’s main 24-page issue also will contain information on five specialized areas of the law. In addition, the company plans to produce 20 separate sections weekly to cover 20 separate legal areas, such as family law.
Gary H. Smith, the company’s president, said in a prepared statement that the paper projects combined advertising and circulation revenues of nearly $15 million in its first year of operation.
Butler said in an interview Wednesday that the subscription price will be $264 a year for the entire paper or $98 per year for the national news section alone.
