House OKs Park Flight Limits

WASHINGTON — The House passed legislation today that would limit airplane operations around the Grand Canyon to help restore the “natural quiet” disrupted by thousands of sightseeing flights and guard against another midair collision over the canyon.
The bill, approved 378 to 12, would order similar restrictions on flights at Yosemite and Haleakala national parks and direct the National Park Service to study the effects of flights over other parks.
