A survey of recent childhood diseases in the San Joaquin Valley town of Fowler revealed a cluster of acute lymphatic cancers, Fresno County Health Department officials said. Health officer Donn Cobb said there is no known or even suspected cause of the cluster at this time. The cluster, a medical term for non-contagious diseases occurring in several people in a small area, was found by state and county investigators. Cobb said the number of childhood cancers in Fowler will not be reported until a study of possible causes is completed next year.
