A veterinarian and his employee in Ocala, Fla., have been charged with arson in connection with a horse farm fire in which 12 thoroughbred horses perished.
Dr. Ricky Coleman Irwin, 37, of Summerfield, Fla., was charged with three counts of second-degree arson, one count of criminal solicitation to commit arson, and conspiracy to commit arson.
His employee, Oscar Hamilton, 28, of Belleview, Fla., faces three counts of arson and one count of conspiracy to commit arson.
Sunday’s fire at the Another Episode horse farm, which is 14 miles west of Ocala, razed a 28-stall stable, killing all the horses inside. Damage was estimated at $300,000.
