Saddleback Romps to 41-6 Victory Over Santa Ana Valley

Saddleback High School scored a 41-6 nonleague victory over Santa Ana Valley Thursday night in Santa Ana Stadium.
Saddleback took a 20-0 halftime lead and scored 21 more points in the third quarter.
Senior tailback Nate Primous rushed for 117 yards in 10 carries, including a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, to lead the Roadrunners. Quarterback Sean Therien completed 6 of 11 passes for 68 yards and 1 touchdown for Saddleback.
A bad snap on a Santa Ana Valley punt set up the first of three Saddleback touchdowns in the third quarter. The Roadrunners recovered the loose ball on the Falcon 10-yard line and scored three plays later on an eight-yard pass play from Therien to Bobby Thurmond. Santa Ana Valley fumbled on its next play from scrimmage, leading to another Roadrunner touchdown.
Primous carried the ball only once in the second half. Reserve tailback Jose DeSantiago compiled 67 yards in 7 carries for the Roadrunners. Paul Peters had a five-yard run in the fourth quarter for Santa Ana Valley’s only score.
