The suggested retail price of Volkswagen cars will rise an average 4.2% in the 1987 model year over 1986, the auto maker said. The 1987 Golf--which will be called the Golf GL and have an upgraded interior--will cost $8,190, compared to $7,780 for the 1986 Golf, said Volkswagen U.S., the German auto maker’s suburban Detroit import arm. The four-door Jetta GL will cost $9,990, compared to $9,485 in 1986, while the Scirocco will cost $10,680, compared to $10,260 in 1986. The Golf models built in Pennsylvania are on their way to dealer showrooms now, while the auto maker’s import line should begin arriving by the end of the month, VW spokesman Jerry Amestoy said.
