Alhambra : School Site Search Findings
A consulting firm hired to find potential sites for a new high school in the Alhambra High School District will present its findings at a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9 in the Alhambra High School auditorium, 101 S. 2nd St.
The Alhambra school board asked the firm of Hopen, Hedlund & Darby to look for new sites throughout the four-city district after proposals to build a high school in Rosemead encountered strong opposition.
The Alhambra board has invited the Alhambra, Monterey Park, Rosemead and San Gabriel city councils and the Garvey and San Gabriel school boards to attend the meeting.
Supt. Bruce Peppin said that after studying the sites investigated by the consultants, the Alhambra school board will select one or more sites to be evaluated through an environmental impact study. The process will provide a six-month period for community comment on the sites, Peppin said.
