AXEL, COME HOME
Axel Foley--Detroit wants you!
But to date, the Michigan Film Office hasn’t heard whether “Beverly Hills Cop II†will be returning to film in Foley’s hometown. (Recall that Axel wore a sweatshirt for the city’s Mumford High.)
After spotting our recent sneak preview of the script, they called Outtakes to ask if any scenes take place in their fair city. Based on the script versions we’ve seen, yes.
Along with a shoot-out sequence at a small private airport in a corner of the Detroit Metro Airport, we found scenes in Axel’s neighborhood and the Detroit PD.
That made Mark Warshaw, West Coast rep for the film office, pretty happy: “We’re a pretty loyal bunch in Michigan. I think the people in Michigan have been thrilled by the notoriety that Axel (Eddie Murphy) brought us.â€
But to date, said Paramount, they don’t know just where, exactly , the film will shoot. But it’s got an October start date. So they should know by then.
