Buena Park : Suspect Surrenders in Slaying Over $50 Debt
A Buena Park man suspected of shooting and killing a man, possibly in self-defense, during a dispute over a $50 debt, turned himself in late Wednesday, police said.
Anthony Jackson Williams, 22, a maintenance worker at Cupples Paper Bag Co. in La Mirada, surrendered at the Buena Park police station about 9 p.m. and was arrested on suspicion of murder, Officer Terry Branum said. Williams was held in County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
An argument at a Buena Park residence late Tuesday over the debt apparently led to the shooting of Craig William Burns, 25, of Whittier, Branum said. Burns was shot twice in the head, and statements from witnesses indicate the shooting may have been self-defense, Branum said.
