Fluor Unit Is Awarded Pact for Plant in China

Fluor Corp. of Irvine said that Sino Fluor Engineers, its joint-venture engineering company with Sinopec International in Peking, has won a contract for work on a polypropylene plant in the Shandon Province of China. The contract for the project was awarded by China National Technical Import Corp., but its value was not disclosed by Fluor.

Sino Fluor will provide the project with basic engineering and procurement services from Fluor’s engineering center in Houston, with detail engineering to be conducted at the plant site itself.

The 70,000-metric-ton-per-year plant will be constructed in Sinopec’s Qilu Petrochemical Complex, which conducts all on-shore petroleum projects in China. The plant will manufacture petrochemical-based fibers for domestic use.
