Two Los Angeles police officers were injured when their patrol car was crushed by an empty VIP Charters bus backing out of the Greyhound maintenance yard at 1614 E. 7th Street. Officer Erwin Stowell, 27, was freed from the crushed car by firefighters using a “jaws of life†and hospitalized with a broken leg, concussion and bruises; his partner, Renee Harrison, 25, received minor injuries. The name of the maintenance yard bus driver, who also suffered minor injuries, was withheld by authorities. The district attorney’s office is reviewing the accident report.
