Manila Gunman Kills Marcos Loyalist

MANILA — An unidentified gunman shot a Marcos loyalist leader to death during a conversation in front of a Manila hotel Tuesday and fled in a taxi, witnesses reported.
Felizardo Lota, 46, was Batangas city attorney when former President Ferdinand E. Marcos was in office. The shooting took place outside the Manila Hilton, officials said.
Lota, a lawyer from Batangas, 60 miles south of Manila, had helped organize activities in support of Marcos since the former president fled to Hawaii and President Corazon Aquino assumed power last February. Lota also was head of Philippine Statehood U.S.A., a group promoting American statehood for the archipelago.
