The United States Football League asked a U.S. District Court Judge in New York to grant a new trial for damages and to throw out the $3 award the USFL won in its $1.69-billion antitrust suit against the National Football League.
Claiming that Judge Peter K. Leisure’s instructions to the jury were confusing and that comments made by the jurors after the trial demonstrated their misunderstanding of their obligations, USFL attorney Harvey Myerson said he filed the 106-page brief hoping the court will “correct its error.”
