Camarillo Council OKs Plan for Agriculture Land

CAMARILLO — The City Council has approved a plan prepared by the planning staff and consultants for the development of agricultural land.
The Airport North Specific Plan covers 337 acres between the Ventura Freeway and Camarillo Airport and between Las Posas Road and Central Avenue.
No construction will be permitted for five years, until the impact of other developments, including transfer of the Air National Guard base from Van Nuys to Point Mugu and the proposed State University Center on one of three Camarillo sites, can be evaluated.
The plan calls for 3.7 million square feet of space to accommodate industrial and commercial buildings, a four-story, 135-room hotel fronting the freeway and several banks and restaurants.
Complete development of the project is expected to take about 20 years.
Landowners involved in the plan are Ferro Family Partnership, McGrath Ranch, Kennerly-Brucker, Alma Scholle and Dr. DeWayne Jones, all of Camarillo, and J.B. 2-H Group, Bakersfield.
