MOVING RIGHT ALONG: Democratic State Atty. Gen. John Van de Kamp has presented Rock Against Drugs (RAD) a $50,000 grant of state funds to help finance a series of TV commercials and public-service announcements warning youngsters against drug abuse. The spots will feature such pop stars as Kiss’ Gene Simmons, Belinda Carlisle, Moon and Dweezil Zappa, Michael Des Barres and ex-Sex Pistol Steve Jones. Des Barres has announced that he will donate part of the proceeds from all of his five Southland concert appearances (which include an Aug. 19 date at the Roxy) to RAD as well. . . . Local faves the Rave-Ups have a new single due out later this month called “These Wishes.” . . . Philip Bailey, who has had a string of pop hits on CBS Records, will release his second album of Christian music next month on Word Records (distributed through A&M;). Titled “Triumph,” the record features such sidemen as Greg Phillinganes, Robbie Buchanan, Michael Ruff and George Duke. . . . And Was Not Was fans will recognize the new Wham! single, “Where Did Your Heart Go,” as a song that originally appeared on Was Not Was’ first record.
