AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: Anyone who thinks rap music isn’t a great comic medium should just look at who’s tried their hands at rhyming rhythms in recent years. First it was Mel Brooks, more recently Rodney Dangerfield, and now Sid Caesar is joining the crowd. The comic legend will perform a song called “The International Rap,” which will be the title track to the upcoming film “Princess Academy,” a low-budget comedy set in an exclusive girls boarding school in Switzerland. . . . Speaking of rap: The Timex Social Club, whose hit, “Rumors,” is still climbing the pop charts, is changing its name, tentatively, to the Social Club, after complaints from the Timex watch firm. . . . And the rap hit has already inspired a parody, “ Roaches,” by local group Bobby Jimmy & the Critters.
