The South Coast Air Quality Management District board ordered a study of the effect on air quality of solid waste disposal in the South Coast Air Basin. Concern over the possible effect on health of air pollution from waste-to-energy incineration plants such as the Lancer project proposed by Los Angeles prompted the review. The study will be directed by the board’s intergovernmental affairs committee chaired by Ontario Councilwoman Faye Myers Dastrup.
