A veteran Los Angeles police officer was found guilty Monday of two felony counts of preparing false evidence stemming from charges that he provided phony traffic school completion certificates to two people who did not attend classes.

Frank Janowicz, 42, a 15-year officer, faces a maximum prison sentence of three years and eight months when he is sentenced Sept. 3, Deputy Dist. Atty. Lawrence E. Mason said. Janowicz, a Los Angeles Superior Court jury was told, took $40 for one certificate and $50 for the other. Based on the verdict, Janowicz will apparently be terminated from the police force, Mason said.
