Although the stage in Washington clearly is set for the most extensive overhaul of the nation’s tax law since World War II, public reaction to tax revision is generally unenthusiastic, the Gallup Poll found. And, despite the consensus of lawmakers that the new tax program will be fairer than the present one, 64% of the respondents think their taxes will either go up or stay the same and only 22% think their taxes will go down.
