Gannett Co., which completed its acquisition of the Louisville (Ken.) Courier-Journal and Times on Monday, named George N. Gill president and publisher of the two newspapers. He had been president and chief executive of the papers before their sale by the Bingham family.
Michael G. Gartner, a Gannett executive and former editor of the Des Moines Register, will become editor of the Louisville papers. In their new jobs, Gill and Gartner succeed Barry Bingham Jr., who had said previously that he planned to leave the papers when the sale was completed.
