A 4-year-old boy who received the first successful partial adult liver transplant in the United States died Wednesday, hospital officials said.

John Jenna arrived at Wyler Children’s Hospital Jan. 19 suffering from acute liver failure and was given a segment of an adult liver two days later because an appropriate child donor could not be found, a hospital spokeswoman said.
