Conrad’s ‘And the Angels Swing’

Conrad’s tribute to Benny Goodman . . . “And the angels swing” was beautiful and especially meaningful to me.

Forty years ago, at the Eastwood Gardens in Detroit, Mich., on our first date, my husband and I danced to the wonderful music of Benny Goodman’s band.

What a magical romantic evening it was, dancing under the stars to music that will live forever. Indeed, I attribute this gifted musician as being our matchmaker.

And through the years we danced to Benny Goodman’s music and followed his performances whenever possible because each time we heard him we re-lived our first date.

We shall always be grateful to this man who kept us dancing through our marriage. Thank you, Benny Goodman.
