City Clerk Bankus of Moorpark Dies

Moorpark City Clerk Doris D. Bankus died Thursday while recuperating at home from open heart surgery, an official of the Ventura County community said Friday.
Bankus, who was 65, had been clerk since the city incorporated in July, 1983.
The cause of death is not yet known, city spokeswoman Phyllis Spruiell said. Mayor Pro Tem Thomas C. (Bud) Ferguson said City Hall will be closed Monday in memory of Bankus.
She is survived by two daughters and a son.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, with burial at 3 p.m. at San Pedro Cemetery.
