Fire Destroys Condominium: A fire Thursday destroyed a condominium but a family--including a 3-day-old child--escaped unhurt, authorities said. Cathleen Wardle, 27, was at home with her mother, who was visiting, and her two children, ages 24 months and 3 days, when she smelled smoke about 12:20 p.m. A fire official said Wardle checked the inside, then the outside of the condominium on Chesterfield Drive and saw smoke on the roof. Wardle, whose husband was not at home, notified authorities and evacuated her mother and children. It took 18 firefighters about 20 minutes to control the blaze. Damage was estimated at $100,000. Cause of the fire has not been determined.
