Sacramento area land developer Roy T. Brophy was nominated by Gov. George Deukmejian as a regent of the University of California for a term ending in 1998. Subject to Senate confirmation, he would replace Robert O. Reynolds of Los Angeles. Brophy, 64, a Republican, was Sacramento County chairman of Deukmejian’s gubernatorial campaign in 1982. He has been a trustee of the California State University system by appointment of both Deukmejian and former Gov. Ronald Reagan. He also has served on the board of governors of the California Community Colleges.
