Explosion Rips Chemical Plant, Releases Smoke

PASCAGOULA, Miss. — An explosion ripped through a chemical plant Sunday, releasing a black cloud of smoke from the toxic chemical benzene, officials said. The smoke from the First Chemical Corp. plant was not hazardous, officials said. No injuries were reported in the explosion.
