In competition that drew more than 20,000 entries, Times assistant art director Donald Burgess was awarded a silver medal by the Art Directors Club of New York for a Page 1 cover appearing in the Travel Section Oct. 20, 1985.
Burgess was honored at the 65th annual awards ceremony at the city’s Jacob Javits Convention Center June 6. His entry featured Moscow’s Red Square.
A spokesman for the ADC, oldest and most prestigious society of its kind in the United States, said this year’s contest drew the greatest number of entries in the club’s history. Burgess won in the newspaper editorial design category.
