Notre Dame Head to Retire

South Bend, Ind. — The Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, who has been head of the University of Notre Dame for 35 years, longer than any other president of a major American college, plans to retire next year, a spokesman said last week. Hesburgh will be 70 next May 27.
