The Brooklyn Academy of Music is making tuneful plans to commemorate the 50th anniversary of George Gershwin’s death next year with a three-week festival. Michael Tilson Thomas will music direct it, and the school has been searching out celebs, like, for example, Cyndi Lauper. But, reported Newsday, the Lauper spokesman was very disdainful: “This office has no knowledge of the event. We have no commitment to do it. We wouldn’t have anything to do with that .”
