FBI Agent’s Lawyer Fined $500 After ‘Temper Tantrum’

The judge in fired FBI agent Richard W. Miller’s spy trial held a defense attorney in contempt of court today for what he called a temper tantrum during the prosecutor’s final argument.
Stanley Greenberg, after being cited and fined $500, immediately moved for a mistrial on grounds of prosecution and judicial misconduct and said the judge was unable to be fair because of personal friction evident throughout the trial.
The action by U.S. District Judge David Kenyon came moments before he was to place the case in the hands of the jury.
Kenyon became angry when Greenberg arose during the summation of U.S. Atty. Robert Bonner and objected vehemently that Bonner was misstating a comment from Greenberg’s opening statement.
