Stephen Sandland has been promoted to director of development for the Irvine Hotel Co., a newly formed operating division of Newport Beach-based Irvine Co. In his newly created position, Sandland will oversee the feasibility studies, design and management of the hotels and athletic clubs in the company’s business plan. For three years Sandland served as development manager for the Irvine Co.’s Four Seasons Hotel Newport, which opened in May. He now is working on plans to build a hotel and conference center in conjunction with the University of California, Irvine.
