Mahony Battle on Pornography

This new Archbishop Mahony has very strange priorities. His attitude of social activism is admirable, but I should think that violent crime and drug/alcohol abuse and avarice are more serious threats to the lives of his constituents (and perhaps to their salvation) than some magazine.

I suggest that the pictorial/sexual content of the high-class magazines like Playboy and Penthouse are less of an issue here than their editorial content being outside the boundaries of the Catholic “party line.”
