Data General is laying off 400 assembly workers.
The Westboro, Mass.-based company will take a $6-million charge in its third quarter in connection with the layoffs at its Austin, Tex., and Hong Kong facilities. The cutbacks are part of a consolidation of peripheral equipment operations.
