Japan posted another record trade surplus in May.
The Finance Ministry said the surplus in May reached a monthly record of $7.53 billion after April’s $6.83 billion, also a record. Exports leaped 24% to $17.89 billion while imports dropped 6.3% to $10.36 billion. The surplus with the United States fell to $4.06 billion in May from $4.76 billion in April while the surplus with the European Community rose to $1.5 billion from $1.4 billion.
