Canins Has Repeat in Tour of Norway
SKIEN, Norway — Maria Canins of Italy, last year’s World Championship runner-up to Jeannie Longo of France, posted her second straight overall victory in the women’s fourth Tour of Norway cycling race.
Canins aggregate winning time for the 10-leg race was 16 hours 6 minutes 6.31 seconds.
Inga Thompson of the United States placed second and Brigitte Gschwend of Switzerland was third. They were 1 minute and 51 seconds and 2:25, respectively, behind Canins.
Longo placed fourth overall, 2:56 behind Canins.
Two other Americans, Katryn Tobin and Rebecca Twigg, placed 8th and 13th.
