Two Men Killed in Early Morning Crash
EL CAJON — Two men were killed early Saturday when their speeding pickup truck crashed into the back of a parked flatbed truck on North Mollison Avenue, police reported.
The dead men were identified by the San Diego Coroner’s office as Robin Patrick Monohan, 28, of the 900 block of Anza Street, who was the driver, and Johnny Rodriguez, 33, an El Cajon resident whose latest address was unknown. Both men worked at Chem-tronics Inc. in El Cajon, police said.
According to police, the pickup truck was traveling at more than 70 m.p.h. in the 1400 block of North Mollison when Monohan lost control and slammed into the rear of a parked one-ton flatbed truck. The force of impact pushed the flatbed into another parked car and sent the pickup truck careening into the middle of the road.
Rodriguez died at the scene of the accident, which occurred at about 2:35 a.m. Monohan was taken to AMI Valley Medical Center in El Cajon, where he died about 2:55 a.m.
The accident is still being investigated, police said.
