8 Arrested at Checkpoint: A California Highway Patrol sobriety checkpoint near Laguna Beach netted eight arrests for suspected drunk driving late Friday night and early Saturday morning, the CHP said. The patrol stopped 660 cars on the southbound lane of Coast Highway south of Nyes Place and administered 37 field sobriety tests.
