Local News in Brief : Flournoy Named Head of Boys’ Home Board
Former state Controller Houston I. Flournoy has been named head of the governing board of the Pacific Lodge Boys’ Home, operators of the Woodland Hills facility said Tuesday.
Flournoy, who was a state Assemblyman for five years before serving as controller from 1967 to 1974, is now a professor and special assistant to the president of the University of Southern California.
He will join the board at a June 23 reception that will launch a fund-raising campaign, a lodge spokeswoman said.
The 63-year-old lodge has more than 80 residents 13 to 17 years old who have been referred there by juvenile courts and social service agencies for such offenses as petty theft, truancy and drug use.
