I have discovered that if I dish up two-thirds of my meal, eat it and then get up from the table for a few minutes (do some dishes, wash the stove), when I return to finish my meal I often don’t want any more.

Even though I had thought I was still very hungry when I did the dishes, etc.

Perhaps this habit will help other dieters.
