A former San Francisco policeman and Brink’s security guard convicted in one of the largest cash robberies in American history says authorities are not going to find any leftover loot. George Bosque says he spent or gave away almost all of the loot. Part of the money was stolen from his New York hotel room, he added. “I did give away and I did spend the money,” Bosque told the Sacramento Bee. “Call it stupid, but it’s a fact. If the FBI or the IRS has a shred of evidence that I buried some gold Krugerrands underground or something like that, let them put up or shut up.” On Aug. 15, 1980, Bosque, then a 25-year-old police officer and part-time Brink’s guard, drove off from San Francisco International Airport with a Brink’s truck containing $1.85 million in cash. When arrested 15 months later, he had $90. Authorities recovered $34,000. Bosque, serving a 15-year term at the federal prison at Pleasanton, is eligible for parole in November.
