Two Soviet figure skating judges were suspended by the International Skating Union for awarding biased scores during the World figure skating championships in March, the Austrian Press Agency reported in Velden, Austria.
Natalia Danilenko was suspended for three years and Ludmilla Kubashevskaya for one year. Danilenko already had been banned for two years by the Soviet federation.
Danilenko had awarded a 5.9 out of a possible 6.0, to Alexander Fadeev of the Soviet Union, although he fell twice during free skating and once touched the ice to steady himself.
No details were disclosed on Kubashevskaya’s suspension.
