Cal Poly Wins Contest
Cal Poly Pomona’s student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers won overall first place from 10 other competing campuses in the 1986 ASCE Pacific Southwest Conference at UC Irvine.
Students from the Pomona university won first place in technical paper presentation, second place in non-technical paper presentation, third place in model bridge competition, first and second places in surveying competition and third place in the women’s concrete canoe race.
Other schools were Arizona State University, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Northridge, San Diego State, Loyola/Marymount University;, University of Arizona, UC Irvine and USC. Cal Poly Pomona will host next year’s conference.
